Community - Recreation Centres
These offer a wide variety of recreational and social activities for young people such as swimming pools, hot tubs, showers, theatre programs, day care, and arts and craft activities. Although some of these activities cost money, there is a program called "Leisure Access" that allows low income residents (annual incomes of less than $16,500 are eligible) to use Parks and Recreation facilities at no cost or reduced cost. For example, you may use pool and shower facilities for free, and racquet sports are 1/2 price. The cards are good for 1 year. Your can get a referral and a verification of income (if you are not on welfare) from most service agencies such as SYS, Watari, DEYAS or go into your Human Resources Office and speak to your FAW. The community centres should also be able to help you with the forms.
