ANGER

The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines it as: a feeling of extreme displeasure, hostility, indignation or exasperation toward someone or something.

It isn't:

  • Blaming (finger pointing)
  • Sarcasm (joking at someone else's expense)
  • Violence (physical or verbal)
  • Revenge (getting even)
  • Cruelty (hitting below the belt)
  • Punishment (teaching someone a lesson)
  • Bullying (pushing people around)
  • Sulking (the silent treatment)
  • Manipulating others to get your way
  • Taking it out on the innocent

It is:

  • A normal human emotion
  • A part of being assertive
  • A gateway towards identifying "real" feelings
