South Vancouver Neighbourhood House

Call and an “Investigator” will get back to you. They investigate complaints about the Provincial government, local government, hospitals, universities, colleges, public schools, governing bodies of professionals and occupational associations. For example; if you are having trouble dealing with your social worker or rehabilitation worker, you may want to give this number a call.*Note: The Ombudsman in unable to deal with complaints against the Federal government, for example; Employment Insurance.

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House

You must be at least 16 yrs of age. If you are under 19, you must have a parent or guardian’s consent. You must bring in a birth certificate and another piece of ID. When you go to the office, you will be required to take your “learners licence test” which involves an eye test, a road sign test and a knowledge test. This costs $15.00 and an additional $10.00 for picture ID. This licence is good for 12 months. After 6 months, you can apply to take two road tests, and if you pass, you will receive your driver's licence (class 7 - novice).

Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House

Safe House is a voluntary seven-day co-ed residential program for youth aged 16 - 18 years who are absent from home and street-involved or in danger of becoming so. Safe House also accepts parenting teens. The program has access to support services for as assistance in finding accomodations, education, and work. It provides referrals for addiction issues, pregnancy, legal problems, medical concerns, care cards, and advocacy with the Ministry of Children and Family Development and issues relating to income assistance. Safe House is open for self-referrals.

Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House - (DTES NH)

Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services Society (VACFSS) is a non profit society providing delegated (Guardianship, Residential Resources and Aboriginal Intake and Family Services) and non-delegated (Family Preservation and Reunification) services to Aboriginal children and families in the Greater Vancouver area. VACFSS helps urban Aboriginal children, youth and families become stronger through culturally actualized programs and support.
