Downtown Eastside Community Kitchen (DECK)

The DECK project aims to alleviate some of the impact that poverty has on health by coordinating community kitchens that are focused on healthier living skills. The participants will experience increased intake of nutritious food and knowledge of their health in addition to connecting with their peers and their community. By addressing these basic human needs, the participants will experience improved sense of health and well being.

Debtors Anonymous

Debtors Anonymous is fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from compulsive debting.

DAYTOX

Home detox day program for individuals whose substance misuse does not require residential detox. Structured program with scheduled appointments offering counselling, education, support, acupuncture and alternative therapies.

Daughters and Sisters Program (PLEA Community Services Society of BC)

Unique residential addiction treatment for female youth between 12-18 years of age. Daughters and Sisters is a six month program with 7 beds available for youth referred by probation officers in BC.  Beds are also available on a private, fee for service basis to youth throughout Canada.

DAMS - Drugs and Alcohol Meeting Support for Women

Offers outreach, alternate therapies, creative talking circle. Meals on Mondays and Wednesdays @ 5:00 pm.

Crisis Center (Crisis Intervention and Suicide prevention)

The Distress Line provides confidential, non-judgmental, free emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for people experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including feelings which may lead to suicide. We are here for you if you're worried about something, feel upset or confused, or you just want to talk to someone. You don't have to be suicidal to call us.

Crisis Pregnancy Centre

Call ahead to make an appointment. Offers counselling for unexpected pregnancies. They provide free pregnancy tests, education on pregnancy, abortion risks and techniques, and alternatives to abortion as well as post-abortion grief support. They can provide you with free maternity clothes, baby clothes, baby food, pre-natal classes and referrals.

Covenant House Vancouver

Our 22-bed crisis shelter is open 24 hours a day and helps young people aged 16 - 22.Young people self refer to the shelter on a first-come, first-served basis. When a young person first arrives, we take care of their immediate needs First, which is often medical care and always food and rest.

Covenant House

Community support services and outreach offer medical and social services referrals. Support, counselling, information and advocacy. Referrals are also provided to education and training programs. Hot meals are served once a week. There is also a women only drop-in on Fridays.

Referral through ACCESS CENTRAL)Community based residential safe, supportive environment for individuals withdrawing from the acute effects of alcohol or other drugs.

Columbia House - Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver

An around-the-clock residential program is home to 10 women at any one time who have been in conflict with the law or who are in a state of transition. The philosophy is one of self direction and independence, with individual counselling and goal planning focusing on self reliance, coping skills and independent living.

Circle of Eagles Lodge Society

The Circle of Eagles Lodge is a community residential facility, which provides care and custody to Aboriginal men conditionally, released from the federal institutions. This facility seeks to emphasize pride and self-responsibility for the aboriginal peoples. Circle of Eagles Lodge provides a comfortable environment, safe shelter, a supportive staff and recreational amenities including a television and pay phones. Rent is not required and meals are included.

Children's Hospital

Providing services to people affected by the criminal justice system. The society works for effective and humane criminal justice through advocacy, reform, direct service and public education in order to promote a safe and peaceful community.
