To qualify for the BC Bus Pass Program, you must be receiving any of the following:Old Age Pension and Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement or Federal Spouse's Allowance;Spouses Allowance to Old Age Security;Over 65 years: would qualify for OAS and GIS except having less than 10 years residency in Canada;BC Employment and Assistance (60 years and older); orBC Employment and Assistance PWD Disability Assistance (18 to 64 years).

Avalon Recovery Centre

Avalon Recovery Society is a non-profit Society that operates two drop-in centres, one in Vancouver and one on the North Shore. Avalon is dedicated to helping women in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. The women attending Avalon represent a true cross-section of our society and come to us from throughout the Lower Mainland. There is no charge for women to attend Avalon and, after 18 years in operation, Avalon continues to be a low-profile, grassroots organization. The concept of the Avalon Women’s Drop-In Centres is a gift from the two founders Helen Burnham and Virginia Giles.

ASIA (Asian Society for the Intervention of AIDS)

Provides free information and referral services related to HIV, sexual health, and sexuality. Our support, information, and advocacy services for: Asian injection drug users and their families; Asian gay, bisexual, msm, or questioning men: and indoor female sex workers. Also provide presentations for schools and community groups related to sexual health and  discrimination. (Asian includes: South Asian, East Asian, South-east Asian and West Asian people.) Services offered in Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Vietnamese, Japanese and English.

ARTSPEAK Gallery

ARTSPEAK is a non-profit artist run centre in the Gastown area of Vancouver. Established in 1986, Artspeak presents exhibitions of contemporary art in the gallery space as well as events, talks and readings.Admission is free.

Based on the 12-step program of AA. Printed material is available upon request. North Vancouver meeting is 7 pm Mondays at Lynn Valley United Church (3201 Mountain Highway).

Call or drop in for more information. They offer an outreach program, pre-natal education, community kitchen, dinner night, a drop in lunch on Fridays, and a day program with parenting, lifeskills and support for moms 22 and under and dads 25 and under.
