Safe House - Family Services of Greater Vancouver

Safe House is a voluntary seven-day co-ed residential program for youth aged 16 - 18 years who are absent from home and street-involved or in danger of becoming so. Safe House also accepts parenting teens. The program has access to support services for as assistance in finding accomodations, education, and work. It provides referrals for addiction issues, pregnancy, legal problems, medical concerns, care cards, and advocacy with the Ministry of Children and Family Development and issues relating to income assistance. Safe House is open for self-referrals.

Roundlake Treatment Center

Round Lake Treatment Centre is an accredited 36-bed alcohol and drug abuse treatment facility located on the Okanagan Indian Reserve near Vernon in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. Programs in addictions treatment are offered to clients from throughout the province, with a focus on holistic healing and First Nations’ culture. It is situated in a private, park-like setting on the edge of scenic Round Lake.

Legal Aid services include: Legal advice from duty counsel lawyers at most courthouses. You can also get help from family advice lawyers at several family justice centres, and the lawyers and the paralegals on LawLINE. Legal representation from a lawyer for those who qualify and have serious family, child protection, or criminal law issues.

RainCity Housing and Support Society

RainCity Housing and Support Society, formerly Triage Emergency Services & Care Society, is a grassroots organization built around compassion, purpose and a commitment to delivering progressive housing and support solutions for people living with mental illness, addictions and other challenges. The men and women who benefit from the services of RainCity Housing are treated with dignity and respect, and are offered a safe place to live, independence and improved quality of life. Since 1982, RainCity Housing has provided shelter and housing for thousands of people in the Lower Mainland.

Quest Program

LawLINE is a free phone service of the Legal Services Society (LSS) designed to help people who don't qualify for a legal aid lawyer to represent them. We provide brief information about print and website resources to help you resolve your legal problem referrals to other services if LSS cannot help legal advice

Quest Food Services

Quest offers volunteer opportunities to individuals who want to give back to their communities, learn new skills for re-entering the job market, or gain experience and confidence after a period of absence from employment. Volunteers may be eligible for an emergency food hamper, which will be made available for them at the end of their shift commitment. Provincial Adult Criminal Court

Call ahead or drop in for information. If you are inquiring about an upcoming case, make sure you have the criminal charge and the full name of the person charged. They can give you the date, time, and the place of the trial over the phone. If you are inquiring about the charges that are going to be laid against someone, ask for the prosecutor in charge approval. Provides information on upcoming cases and bail conditions, as well as information on the scheduling of upcoming trials.

Prism Alcohol & Drug Services

Offers a variety of services for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender clients. Call for information on new program dates and information.

Pregnancy Options Service

Offers free, confidential telephone counselling for women with an unintended pregnancy. Provides decision-making counselling, referral support, and information about abortion services. Counselling services are non-judgmental and supportive of every option. Serves BC.

Powell Place Shelter for Women

26-bed emergency shelter provides accommodation and three meals daily for single women and lesbian couples who are experiencing crisis. Gives support and provides information regarding available resources. Staffed 24 hours a day.

Positive Women's Network

Drop-In for women with HIV Monday - Thursday 11:30 am - 3:30 pm. Positive Women's Network provides support, education and referrals to women living with HIV in BC. We also provide education and referrals to communities serving women with HIV. All services are free to women with HIV, although we do require confirmation of status.

Portland Community Clinic

(Closed for lunch Monday to Thursday 1 - 2 pm) The goal of the Portland Community Clinic is to provide quality dental care at a reduced fee or accept assignment of benefits of all dental insurance plans to all residents or job training participants within the boundaries of the Downtown Eastside Community (postal codes to begin with V6A or V6B). Bring a carecard or number for dental insurance specifics and or a form of identification stating your name and current address prior to booking.
