Outreach Services - Directions Youth Services Centre  (Family Services of Greater Vancouver)

Providing support to Vancouver's homeless youth and youth at-risk. The Outreach team at Directions Youth Services Centre is in place to identify new youth on the streets of Vancouver and connect them to resources and services. Outreach workers assist homeless youth and youth at-risk in immediately accessing services such as health, mental health, MCFD or police; in returning youth to home or home community, where appropriate; and coordinating a response with other resources and service providers.

Options for Sexual Health

Options for Sexual Health is a non-profit society supporting reproductive choice and healthy sexuality.  We offer information and services for all aspects of sexual and reproductive health through 50 clinics across BC, the 1-800 SEX SENSE Line, and educational materials.  Sexual health education programs are available for students, parents and professionals.

Operation Go Home

Operation Go Home works to help street-involved and at-risk youth from all over Canada through the Five Pillars of services and programs: Drop-In, Education, Employment, Outreach, and Reunite. Call us anytime if you need help getting home or just need somebody to talk to.

Onyx Voluntary Safe Care

Providing support to Vancouver's homeless youth and youth at-risk. The Onyx Voluntary Safe Care program is offered in conjunction with PLEA Community Services Association to provide resources and case planning for sexually exploited youth aged 18 years and under.

Ombudsman For Youth

Call and an “Investigator” will get back to you. They investigate complaints about the Provincial government, local government, hospitals, universities, colleges, public schools, governing bodies of professionals and occupational associations. For example; if you are having trouble dealing with your social worker or rehabilitation worker, you may want to give this number a call.*Note: The Ombudsman in unable to deal with complaints against the Federal government, for example; Employment Insurance.

Odyssey II - Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Vancouver

Counselling, workshops and alcohol and drug awareness, parent education, peer groups and support groups, referrals and presentations are offered.Odyssey provides services to youth and their families who are affected by substance abuse. We provide a range of services: individual and family counselling, drop-in, social recreational activities, and referrals. We offer a supportive atmosphere where youth feel comfortable to explore alcohol and drug related issues and consider options for obtaining a healthier lifestyle.

North Wind Healing Centre

The NWHC offers affective-based, culturally appropriate programming for Aboriginal People struggling with multi-addictions. Emphasis is on empowering the participants to process past abuse issues that serve as catalysts for substance abuse. This is accomplished primarily within the protection of the Sacred Circle.

North Shore Community Resources Society

Information North Shore, Volunteer North Shore, NS Legal Advocacy Program, NS Caregiver Support Program, Senior's One Stop Information Program, NS Child Care Resources and Referral Program, Community Housing Action Committee.

North Community Health Centre

Call in for hours. Primary care, needle exchange and A & D counselling services are available. Needle exchange Mondays and Fridays 1:00 pm - 4:00pm.

Nexus - Substance Abuse Services for Youth and Families (Street Outreach)

Nexus is a program that provides services to street-involved youth who are affected by substance abuse. We provide a wide range of services: individual counselling, crisis intervention, referrals, and drug/alcohol information and education. We also offer support in an attempt to empower youth to effectively deal with substance abuse issues. Nexus is a confidential service.

New Westminster Health Unit

Point for point, bleach and condoms.

New Start

A 13 week pre-employment program for women. Offers training/workshops in self awareness, critical thinking, abuse issues, communication skills, assertiveness, career exploration, job search, work experience placement and interview skills. Also offers GED educational upgrading, introduction to computers, WCB Level 1 First Aid, CPR, Superhost and self defense.

Information and phone support for parents with newborn babies.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA)

Phone and leave a message for help and/or meeting times and places. This is an organization for recovering addicts to help each other stay free from ALL kinds of drugs.
