A mental illness may affect people of any age or background. Vancouver Community Mental Health Services offers help and hope for people who have a serious mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe depression, behavioural disorders and severe dementia. Services are provided through eight multidisciplinary mental health teams, hospitals, and a variety of specialized services, including some that are partnerships with other care providers.

The centre provides a welcoming barrier-free environment for members of the community to access basic services such as laundry, showers, photo I.D., and long distance phone calls, as well as various programs, activities and classes. Our aim is to nurture a sense of belonging through providing opportunities for membership, and encouraging inclusion of members in a wide range of capacity building activities.

Kingsway Sierra Social Housing.Visions & Decisions - CHOICES Pre-employment Bridging Program -  a 16 week pre-employment program for Aboriginal women age 19 and up, on social assistance.

Gordon House Youth S.E.A.R.Ch.

An employment/lifeskill program for at-risk-youth ages 15- 30 who are either on financial assistance, in care (MCFD) or not receiving any income. They provide a  six week in-classroom lifeskills and job search program which is followed by a  eight weeks placement in a skills related job.

Gastown Vocational Services

Psychological vocational assessment groups for clients 16 - 65 yrs. who have a diagnosed mental illness. They have a variety of work readiness programs; pre-employment, career exploration and supported employment programs to help individuals return to work/or further education.

First Nations Employment & Enterprise Centre

The First Nations Employment Centre delivers various employment and job placement services to the Aboriginal community. They offer one-on-one employment counselling, job placement services, free internet access, free photocopying and fax, career planning, career focused workshops, job posting board, etc.

Family Services of Greater Vancouver

Safe House is a voluntary seven-day co-ed residential program for youth aged 16 - 18 years who are absent from home and street-involved or in danger of becoming so. Safe House also accepts parenting teens. The program has access to support services for assistance in finding accommodations, education, and work. It provides referrals for addiction issues, pregnancy, legal problems, medical concerns/care cards, and advocacy with the Ministry of Children and Family Development and issues relating to income assistance.

YWCA Career Zone

The Career Zone is a free employment centre for jobseekers 15-30 years of age located in downtown Vancouver.  We provide resources and advice to get a job!- Drop-in computer lab w/Internet- One-on-one assistance to find a job- Job Search Workshops- 2-day Career Exploration Workshop- Job Postings and Hiring Fairs- Help with resumes and interviews- Phone, photocopier & fax services- Referral to job search rograms- Work experience programs- Services in English & French
